If you had to choose who you felt was the overall strongest Pokemon in the game, who would you choose? I would go with Mega Rayquaza. He's so strong he's banned from ubers. Following him would be either Xerneas or Arceus.

I was going to say Mega Rayquaza but you've done that already! He's definitely the strongest Pokemon in the game. xD
I think the strongest Pokemon other than the three you've mentioned is Mewtwo and it's mega evolutions. Pretty absurd, really.

I actually find mega mewtwo to be a bit underwhelming. It kinda needs Life Orb or a Choice Item to be really threatening to me, and without it it loses a lot of KO power.

Oh, I was talking about Pokemon in general and not specifically in the games. Mewtwo is considered to be one of the strongest Pokemon in existence in all the Pokemon storylines.

Canonically that would be Arceus right? As far as ingame and competitive, etc... Mega Rayquaza really isn't so hard to deal with that he needed a ban IMO. Xerneas though...

Whilst we can (and seemingly have) crunch the numbers on what 'mon can make others faint the fastest, if you had to ask me which 'mons are strong in that they certainly can pack a punch but can also hold their own and won't immediately fall prey to disaster (Ode to all the Rayquazas getting caught by 4x Blizzards), I would nominate some dark horses like Dialga, Mega Audino and Lugia. Sure, they all fall before the competent trainer, but each of them can certainly go a round or several if you got the right strategy, which is something I feel that glass cannons like Mega Rayquaza can't do.
That's without even saying how much of a beast something like Weakness Policy would make a given 'mon. I mean have you felt the wrath of a powered up Carracosta? The setting-up part reallyyyy pays dividends, trust me!
